Frequently Asked Questions

What is a pip in forex?

A pip (percentage in point) is the smallest standard price movement in forex. For most pairs it is 0.0001 (the 4th decimal place). For JPY pairs it is 0.01 (the 2nd decimal place).

Why does pip value matter?

Knowing the pip value lets you calculate your exact risk and reward in dollar terms before you place a trade. Without it, you cannot properly size your positions or set accurate stop-losses.

Does pip value change with lot size?

Yes. A standard lot (100,000 units) has a higher pip value than a mini lot (10,000 units) or a micro lot (1,000 units). The calculator lets you choose any lot size.
